1. Diplomatic Relations

Established on 21 December 1956. 2026 marks the 70th anniversary.

2. Diplomatic Missions

Mongolia accredited Indonesia from Beijing, Delhi, Tokyo, Hanoi, Bangkok. Embassy opened in Jakarta (2014), reopened July 2024. Ambassador D. Enkhtaivan presented credentials (4 Nov 2024). Indonesia accredits Mongolia from Beijing. Ambassador Jauhari Oratmangun presented credentials (17 Sept 2018).

Under Indonesia’s technical cooperation programs, a small number of Mongolian doctors and medical personnel have participated in training courses in areas such as healthcare, family planning, and community-level sanitation.

As of 2025, there are 30 Mongolian citizens holding residence permits in Indonesia and 461 Indonesian citizens holding residence permits in Mongolia.

12. Cultural Relations

Mongolia’s Cultural Envoy, S.J. Darmono, established the “Mongolian Cultural Center” in 2016 at the Tanjung Lesung Special Economic Zone near Jakarta, funded through his own resources. The center, comprising four traditional Mongolian gers, is the first and only Mongolian cultural center established in Southeast Asia.
